Father (acrylic 30x40, not on sale)
My father Erkki Maunu, school teacher by occupation, was an inspirational piano player, choir leader, talented sportsman as a youngster and a well-known expert of sports history - won the national competition 9 times, mostly by overwhelming marginal and also participated to a number of television quiz shows on sports and general knowledge. In addition to this, he was a good and inspiring father who was always at home. Let this painting be a tribute to his memory.

expo photos
During the hot Saturday evening of 22 August 2015, more than 50 dedicated people gathered themselves in the Factory Street Gallery-café at Tehtaankatu in Helsinki. Taken by this very pleasant surprise (expected about 20 people to come) and an ample amount of wine, I made a little tour around the artworks to explain their background with some music with acoustic guitar, accompanied by my son Aleksi with this ocarina. Four paintings were sold during the night, plus 17 mini-CDs of my orchestra Viva Melancolia - thanks for the support to the young artist ;) About 20 people still continued to restaurant of the KOM-teatteri. Folxxx, thanks for that great evening that I'll remember for good !

Art Expo 2015, Helsinki
Perspectives into the mystery of beauty - portraits by Antti Maunu.
Opening Sat 22 Aug 18-21 h
Open daily Tue-Fri 8-17, Sat-Sun 10-17
Until 18 Sep. 2015
Factory St. Gallery, Tehtaankatu 19

Description:
The figurative paintings of the Finnish artist Antti Maunu feature portraits of women captured in moments of harmony. His imaginative use of colours and the relatively abstract backgrounds combine with modern themes, styles, postures and forms that often highlight provocative or surprising details.
Antti Maunu (53) is a lawyer working in Brussels and a self-taught inspirational musician who started painting at the age of 50. His inspiration draws from his inner call for aesthetics in a regulated and rationalized daily environment. He is fascinated by "the mystery of beauty" that often lies in unexpected details deeply subjective to each viewer.

It became clear that promotion of an art exhibition is an infinite task should everything be done perfectly well: customized invitations, social media, public media, art circles (gallery customers, art journalists and professionals, art schools), surrounding cafes, bars, small shops and restaurants, posters, flyers etc.
Have decided to save at least part of my holidays and focus on the essential: a poster on the door, social media and small-scale catering.

I am a young (53 years) artist posing modern figurative paintings. In the wake of my first exhibition upcoming from the 22 August to 19 Sep 2015 in Helsinki, finally decided to write something into this blog. At this very moment I'm heading towards the gallery to see the gallery owner and have basicly no idea of the practicalities that are staying in front of me to prepare everything....
